Koshitantan (虎視眈々) means, aim for the opportunity to achieve your ambitions. Just as a tiger looks upon its prey with sharp eyes, looking for the perfect moment to strike. It is used to express a situation or feeling that we are preparing for an opportunity and we will actively fight when the opportunity presents itself. “Fortune favors the bold” is the translation of a Latin proverb which exists in several forms with slightly different wording but effectively means the same thing, courageous action is often rewarded. The phrase encourages people to do what scares them.
