Has Heart - Fifty States Project
A huge thank you from the bottom of my heart to Tyler & Kendra from the Has Heart Foundation for allowing me to be a part of the 50 States Project and the opportunity to partner with my dear friend Wakenia Leonard, share in her journey, and help visually tell her story. Listening to her experiences while serving in the National Guard and Army and how it all helped shape her life is something I will not easily forget. After the first day of brainstorming and conceptualizing, I already had an idea formulating in the back of my mind. The key pieces of the design include a snake, representing fear and the limiting effect it can have on you, and a sparrow breaking free of the snake's grasp, symbolizing Wakenia's strength and drive she derives from her faith, passion for singing, and love of life and all of the possibilities it has to offer. The North Star representing guidance and direction while in the face of fear. Regardless of background, Veteran or civilian, religious or not, our hope is this design will inspire others to build the courage to overcome their fears.
